Halloween party

Here in Shanghai just expat celebrate this festivity.

So you can see vampire hang out with panda; geisha and Frankenstein dance together; I also saw Karl Lagerfeld, but not the "red army".

But, for sure, it’s better spend your time with some friends and watch a good selection of movie, like Sleepy Hallow, Nightmare before Christmas, Edward scissorhand (basically all Tim Burton movie) and so on.

new mac

My life is a drama. I can’ live without drama.

Saturday night a guy told me “you are funny, I like your as a friend…but I don’t want to spoil our friendship”. And it was a rainy night.

Sunday my mac, less than 3 years, a present that my lovely daddy gave me before I came here in Shanghai, crashed down. All my data: gone.
Over the top, I had to do a lot of Chinese homework for get ready to the next exam.

Monday evening I bought a new one. And I was able to save most of my data. Now, it is better not to check my bank account, but I love my new mac.
I was pretty busy to install all the software I need and (of course) a proxy, but now everything is ok.

By the way: my life sucks.

Gossip

Il "gossip d'ufficio" esiste. Ovunque.
Nessun posto di lavoro è immune a questo tarlo.

Ma qui a Shanghai le cose possono farsi parecchio interessati perché ci sono così tante lingue (come una moderna Babele), che si può fare del gossip senza essere costretti a sussurrare o nascondersi in un angolo, come moderni cospiratori; se si sa che le altre persone vicino a te non possono comprendere quello di cui stai parlando.

Il fatto: una mia collega, che conosce l'italiano, mi ha raggiunto col volto raggiante ed il nuovo gossip sulle labbra.
Il luogo: la mia scrivania, in ufficio.
L'ora: pomeriggio, verso fine giornata.

Ovviamente nessuno altro parla o capisce italiano, e l'argomento era alquanto succoso ed ilare. Vicino alla mia scrivania siede una "gossip addict". Era furente per il fatto che non potesse comprendere l'argomento della conversazione. Smaniava per conoscere il motivo del nostro ridere.
Poco dopo ho ricevuto una telefonata da un mio amico italiano, ed (ovviamente) rispondo in italiano. Alle mie spalle sento un sibilo: "I don't care if she's speaking italian..."

Consiglio: non ammalatevi di gossip. Un buon training è cercare di non ascoltare i discorsi degli altri, anche se sono in una lingua a voi nota.
Non vorrete scendere al livello della mia vicina di scrivania, spero.

Tempo di zuppe #2

Dopo la prima, eccovi la seconda: ottimale per i piccoli raffreddori di cambio stagione.

Zuppa di Carote.

Quel che serve:

• 4 carote (non l'avreste mai detto, vero?)
• 1 patata
• pezzettino minuscolo di ginger (quello che fa bene contro il raffreddore)
• cipolle
• sale
• olio evo
• panna da cucina (vi assicuro che trovarla qui è un'impresa)

Prima si fanno bollire (il metodo è a vostro piacimento) carote, ginger e patata; poi li si frulla. Soffriggere la cipolle sminuzzata in un poco d'olio ed aggiungere il frullato di carote &c. con acqua. Far cuocere a fuoco lento per tanto-tanto tempo. A cottura ultimata aggiungere panna da cucina.

Servire con pane abbrustolito ed insaporito da olio e rosmarino.

Babies

Is it because my clock is running out of time? Around me I just see pregnant women or couple with child (one child, we are in China).
Or is it because of the movies babies?

I want my own child, but better don’t say it too loudly: I’m still looking for a man!

By the way, if you want to see how a child can grow up in a big city full of smog and noisy or in the wild field surrounded by animals and other children (I’m not going to say where it’s better), take a look.
Even if you just want to see a cute and funny smile.

Pane e nutella

Dopo una pesante giornata di lavoro, dove si deve cercare di mantenere l'armonia tra: persone troppo suscettibili; quelle che necessitano di costante attenzione; ed infine chi ha scritto sulla faccia "meglio se mi stai alla larga", con quale spirito si può affrontare una classe di cinese con tutti quei piccoli (e fastidiosi) carratterini che mi prosciugano la (poca) voglia di vivere che mi è rimasta a fine giornata?

Fortuna che casa mia è fornita di pane e nutella. Ebbene sì.
La nutella c'è anche qui a Shanghai, importata direttamente dalla Germania; esattamente uguale a quella italiana ma con le scritte in tedesco parzialmente coperte da un'etichetta in cinese. Quale sarà mai la lingua più comprensibile?
Comunque, tornare a casa dopo una pessima giornata e sbaffarsi una fetta di pane abbondantemente cosparsa di nutella, aiuta lo spirito affranto.
La classe di cinese si può affrontare.

E non mi interessa se divento tutta ciccia e brufoli!

Ma parlo cinese?

Sfortunatamente no, altrimenti non mi riesco a spiegare il "dramma" della ricerca immagini.
Richiesta: cercare due collezioni uomo di due differenti designer. Una per S/S 2011 ed una F/W 2010-11. Collezioni formali, quindi: giacca/cravatta/camicia/gilè -perché no?/pantaloni.
Le collezioni trovate: un sacco di casual wear/alcune collezioni col jeans strappato/una collezione formale, ma donna/una collezione di intimo femminile (trasparente).

Se avete problemi di comunicazione, non rivolgetevi alla sottoscritta per chiedere come risolverli. Al massimo posso complicarveli.

我的爱好。

三个年前我在米兰。

我的爱好过是聊天和散步。我和我的朋友很喜欢一边散步，一边聊天。

二个年前一半我从来米兰在上海了。

我的英语不大流利和不知道汉语，所以没有朋友。

我是单独了。我的爱好换了。

现在我的是看看书和影片，听音乐和编织。看看书和影片可以我改善我的英语。听音乐可以我是很高兴。编织可以放松而且做我的长袖毛衣。

我喜欢参观和拍照中国的地方，城市和人。所以我获悉不同俗和增长我的文化。

最后我喜欢做饭意大利的食品但是我需要意大利的辛香作料。所以我养意大利语的植物。最近是令人放松的。

The corner of the death (for my flowers)

How to describe this place?
On each side of this parallelepiped there is a wall, and, for a high of 5 floors, there are windows (bathroom and kitchen: such an amazing combination!). So is better keep them closed. The only hole to open air is on the top, were you can see a cloudy sky (Shanghai’s sky).
This place is in dull colour. So depressing.

You need some bright colours; curtains don’t help: flowers are better.
But flowers keep dying.

Do they get depress because of the environments? Are my neighbours jealous of my wonderful flower?
In two years time I tried with so many different kind of flower to come out at the end with a kind of infesting plant here in Shanghai.
If this one die, that’s it. I’m not going to replace it anymore.

Everybody wants to be Italian

This is an American love comedy (2007) that uses thousand type of stereotypy about Italian men and women. About relationship, about how we (Italian) deal inside a relationship. In what way woman can conquer a man using food as a weapon or how a man can seduce a woman bombing her with a lot of presents and fantasy.

Well: if you can handle stereotypy, I suggest to watch it during a raining day, when you are a little bit down. And laugh about Italian, in a nice way [of curse].

Btw, will I ever find a guy younger then me after 30?

Tempo di zuppe #1

Sempre meno, ma ricevo ancora domande sul tema di "come mi nutro in Cina". Spazziamo via tutti quei luoghi comuni: non mangio carne di cane; non ingurgito insetti; e cose striscianti non arrivano nel mio piatto.
Shanghai, rispetto a Milano, ha un numero superiore di pizzaioli made in Italy; e se si vuole provare qualsiasi tipo di cucina (russa, polacca, vietnamita, ecc.) qui c'è.

Inoltre, la maggior parte delle volte, cucino da me. E le zuppe, specie in questa stagione di inizio autunno, sono così "cosy".

Zuppa di Zucca.

Quel che serve (per me):

• metà zucca;
• due patate;
• un broccolo medio;
• cipolla;
• sale, peperoncino (se non è speziato non piace), erba cipollina per decorare.
• olio evo (finalmente ho scoperto il significato: extra vergine d'oliva).

Questa è una zuppa, quindi quel che si deve fare è far bollire tutti gli ingredienti in acqua. Ovvio che prima la cipolla vada soffritta con olio, la zucca sbollentata e frullata, la patata tagliata a dadini, ecc...tocco finale è decorare il piatto con erba cipollina.
Deliziosa.

Shoes with fingers

Today I went to the fake market.
If you are planning to come here it is at the stop of Shanghai Science & Technology Museum, line 2. Suggestion: do not go there if you are not in the mood of bargain for the price.

What I found? An amazing collection of shoes, there are in thousand of colour, but “less is more, and black is better”, as you know. The label is vibram.
As soon as I got home I goggled the logo and I found out that vibram is an Italian brand. No wonder I love them.

Because I work in fashion and I love stereotype: Italian shoes are always the best – just for make it clear: it’s a joke!
And they are so comfortable – this is true.

Saturday night: better stay home.

Once upon a time, when I was in my teenager hood, I used to love hanging out with friends, going clubbing, staying out until sun rise (maybe not so late) almost every Saturday night (ok: once a month!). And if there was holiday, was even better.

Today is Saturday night. It’s holiday time. And I’m home. I’m not going out. Well: it’s raining. But this one doesn’t sound like a good excuse. Am I too old? Well, I’m still under 30…Let’s be honest: let’s face the problem.
I do NOT want to go out and be surrounded by Western guy clue to Chinese girls. I know it sound weird and a little bit racist (my apology), but I’ve been here enough time for realize that a western girl can just get “one night ride” (although there are few research that say that for a woman good sex is between 28-30); but if she’s looking for something more…well: forget about it!
So I just ask a simple question: why Western guy prefer Chinese girl? Because they do, even the ones that complain about the shapeless of Asian body, at the real end they date Chinese girls.
Here a few reason:

• Chinese girl are more wiser, they know how to be weak and make a man feel like a man;
• Chinese girl are humble;
• Chinese girls put on a submissive "act" that flatters the ego of insecure men.

According to this answer, I don’t lose so much.
Men who can’t manage to be equal with their partner, men who want the easy and simpler way in a relationship: those men are not for me. I want more.
Better watching a romantic movie: “Enchanted”.

Festa della Repubblica Popolare Cinese

Oggi è la festa della Repubblica Popolare Cinese.
L'anno scorso c'è stata una grande commemorazione per i 60 anni in Piazza Tia Nan Men, Beijin; quest'anno è un po' più in sordina.

Note positive:

• sono in vacanza per una settimana;
• hanno messo delle bellissime lanterne rosse fuori dal portone principale così non ho problemi a trovare la toppa la sera (qui alle 18.30 è buio);
• se non mi avvicino alla zona expò, Shanghai è relativamente vuota;
• molti taxi vicino agli specchietti hanno la bandierina cinese che sventola e trasmette colore;
• questa sera ci sono i fuochi d'artificio sul Wang Poo.

Ed a proposito di lanterne rosse, questo è un film dove ve ne sono molte di lanterne: consigliato.
